I have an idea for the "Existing transportation system not fun and hard to use" comment. There exists a lot of potential in our local Vrtucar car sharing program. In Quebec, communauto has recently added 50 new Nissan Leafs to their fleet with the help of HydroQuebec and Nissan Canada. Also Toronto's Autoshare has added 3 EV's with the help of the Toronto Atmospheric Fund's Fleetwise EV300 initiative.
In speaking with Wilson Wood, Vrtucar's founder, there is no current partnership with HydroOttawa and we lack a TAF in Ottawa. For them to add a Nissan leaf they would require $6-7000 to afford the additional expense of the car, about $6000 for a charging station and a parking space.
I had the impression from speaking with him that if these action items were met that we could add more EV's to Ottawa's car sharing program!
